The pain is real. . Tough cookie is HARDCORE. Home stretch now! Day 24 of the Stretch May Challenge and I’ve chosen a side stretch with sass 🔥 . Gentle: reach up and over to the side. Feel the stretch all down the side of your body. Medium: Reaching even further across and increasing the pressure in the bent leg, can you reach your fingertips to the floor? Try to resist putting weight into your hand. Open the chest up, as if you’re trying to show the ceiling your armpit. Tough Cookie: Add some weight into the stretch by lifting up your leg. This pulls on the arm so deepens the side stretch way more. Be sure to keep opening the chest and not letting your shoulder roll forward. *I find it SUPER helpful to practice the compass position beforehand (throwback to day 13 ). Pleeeeease warm up lots before throwing yourself into this fierce stretch. . And in case this is the first post of mine you’ve stumbled across... Welcome! О чем мы хотели поговорить со зрителем? Когда у нас с @fabrikamariya впервые зашла речь о создании номера, я сразу предложила уйти от образов типа инь/ян, темное/светлое, и от такой конкретики, как кот/мышь и прочее. Тут Маша меня полностью поддержала. Нам обеим очень хотелось, чтобы этот номер был про отношения между людьми, про поддержку, надежду, дружбу. Этого понимания нам хватило для для того, чтобы простроить связки около и на пилоне. Но когда речь пошла о создании партера, вот тут от нас потребовалась более точная формулировка того, что мы хотим донести. В этот момент нам встретилась @nk_kokhself , которая очень помогла не только с постановкой, но и заставила задуматься над формулировкой идеи, за что огромная благодарность этой фантастической девушке. Именно тогда у нас появилась фраза, наполнившая номер смыслом и заставившая нас лучше его прочувствовать и полюбить: «Я ПО ТЕБЕ СКУЧАЮ, Я ТЕБЯ ВСПОМИНАЮ.» Что мы хотели сказать этим? Если дать более широкое пояснение, то, на мой взгляд, звучать оно будет так: «Тебя нет рядом физически, но я чувствую твоё присутствие во всем, что делаю. Воспоминания о тех днях, что мы провели вместе, наполняют меня, поддерживают, направляют и дают мне силы. Со временем все события блекнут, а какие-то и вовсе стираются из памяти. Поэтому мне страшно, что в один день я проснусь и не смогу вспомнить даже цвет твоих глаз.» Теперь, когда вы знаете историю, которую мы так старались передать в танце, я надеюсь, вы в полной мере проживете и прочувствуете все вместе с нами 7 июня в театре «Плоды Просвещения».

If you find that you suffer from chronic tightness through the upper back as a by-product of excessive amounts of sitting throughout the week – here’s a simple, low cost mobility drill that you can incorporate into your daily regimen. . This T-Spine mobilization drill with a broomstick (or a piece of PVC tubing ) will prove effective at mobilizing the upper back and shoulders while further providing an intense stretch in the lats and triceps. . Assume a kneeling position with your elbows planted on a bench or comparably stable surface at a relatively similar height. . Make sure that the broomstick / tubing is resting in the palm of your hands and that the palms of your hands are facing the ceiling. . To be sure that your positioning is optimal there should be a relatively straight (imaginary ) line from your hips to your shoulders (as in your back should not be overarched or hunched / rounded ) and your elbows should be positioned just slightly in front of your head. . Rock your hips back towards your heels, maintaining that straight line as much as possible, dropping your chest down towards the floor. . Once your hips are as far back as possible, aim to bring the broomstick / tubing as close to your upper back as possible by bending the elbows. . Finally – fully exhale. This final exhale should contribute significantly to the intensity of the stretch felt through the upper back, shoulders and back of the arms. . ✨ People still come to me daily telling me they want to start yoga but are 'not flexible enough'. Led by images on Social Media channels, so many people still think it's all about the aesthetics of the pose. If it doesn't look like the picture, then it can't be right? And this puts a lot of people off even stepping on the mat in the first place. Yoga is a practice, it takes time and effort and the end result very rarely looks 'perfect', but if it feels good, then you are on your way to the pose that is perfect for you. This 'flexibility' thing doesn't come naturally to a high percentage of us Yogis. There is a lot of groaning, sweating and heavy breathing required most days in my practice to start to open up my body! When I first started practicing, I was young, fairly bendy and able to step straight on the mat into sun Salutations. Now, a little older (and wiser I hope ) I warm up my body first. You'll often see me early for class or teaching going through my daily ritual of stretches. This is maintenance. If I miss a day, my body really feels it, and that affects my mood too. It doesn't have to be a full practice every day either, sometimes it's just the stretches. But it always makes me feel better 🙏 So, next time you say you are not flexible enough, come and see me warm up 😂 Or even better, join me for one of my beginners or sports specific classes where we take things slowly and work on variations to suit all levels of flexibility, including strength work for the bendy people too 💖
