We learn through experiencing or seeing things happen...⁣ ⁣ If your caregivers never modeled being patient and understanding with you, it can be very hard to do that for others. It isn’t that you are incapable of being patient with others, at this moment it just might be that you need to practice this skill since it was something that was never taught to you.⁣ ⁣ You can be more mindful by asking yourself:⁣ ⁣ *What about this experience is triggering for me?⁣ *Are my expectations of others unrealistic? And if so, where did I learn this? ☀️We know summer is over. However, there is nothing better than a refreshing and delicious popsicle! One of the most frustrating things that my clients are telling me is their blocks around taking action. They all have their dreams and goals they want to achieve and do and experience but they don’t know how to find the motivation and persistence to take action. Can you relate? Have you asked yourself questions like “Why don’t I take action on a project/business/dream that is so important to me?” “Why is it that I’m on the edge and get angry easily with my kid(s ) when I want to be in control of my emotions and model that to them?” “Why is it that I’m afraid to show my real self to others when I truly want to live MY life, being more authentic and more congruent with my values?” “Why is it that I can get triggered so easily by my husband/my parents, etc, when I really want to nourish these relationships?” “Why is it that I cannot control my anxiety, and I feel overwhelmed and stressed all the time?”... and the list goes on and on. One of the things I teach my clients is that we cannot change a behavior by only looking at the behavior itself. Even though there are lots of useful tools out there that aim to help you to do just that. But after 20 years of working with people, I can confidently say that if you only try to change the behavior without changing the thought patterns, feelings and beliefs behind it, you will struggle. Our actions are influenced by our feelings. Our feelings are influenced by our thoughts and our thoughts are created based on our beliefs. When you crave lasting change, you need to face yourself and look deep within. Everything will become much easier after. I believe that we all have a reason for why we do what we do or why we don’t do what we don’t. If we approach ourselves with compassion, if we are open to reveal ourselves to ourselves, shifts happen easier and more natural. Looking at our own thinking, or deepest beliefs is a practise and it takes time and patience. Becoming more conscious of our mind is a journey but that’s where real change begins. I have never heard this phrase before but it struck me how often we unintentionally do this - set ourselves up for disappointment with high expectations in a situation we have no control over. Think of a scenario where you always expect an ideal outcome - for example walking though the door after a hard day’s work expecting the picture perfect welcome home - a kiss on the cheek, aromas of a beautiful meal, kids bathed and ready for bed, when actually the reality is very different. Now you’re disappointed when your #dream is shattered. Perhaps acknowledging the reality and then being pleasantly surprised when you are greeted warmly will inspire #gratitude and #compassion Can you think of other examples where you do this? I’m sure I have many 😉. Thanks @petersonandcodesign for introducing this phrase to me 😎

The last week have been some of the happiest and darkest moments in my life. I met a girl, a beautiful and caring creature. She took pity on me and I couldn't resist but my mental disorders soon took over and I ended up ruining everything. I began to drink in the hope that maybe it could somehow numb the fact that I was meant to be alone forever. If you read this Madeline just know I truly felt more love in those 6 days than ever in my life. I encourage you to stop waiting for a new month, or saying “I’ll do it tomorrow”. Physical and mental health care should be your #1 priority, always. Here are my essential daily routines which I have taken upon myself to follow. Go ahead, try it. 🙃 1. Mediate. 🧘🏻‍♀️ I do this for at least 30 min. @headspace is a good starting point to assist you until you’re ready to just put on some tunes, and be present by yourself. 2. Exercise. 💁🏻‍♀️ Go for a run, play a sport, do some yoga or even just go for a stroll in the park whilst listening to some podcasts. Do something, anything but at least get up and go outside. 3. Wake up early. 💆🏻‍♀️ This allowed me to get a head start on my daily tasks, ultimately getting more done. Discipline. ☝🏻 4. Switch phone off in the evening.📚 This allows for me to do my meditation, yoga session, learning a language or just getting some reading done. 5. Journal. I’ve been doing this since February 2019 and it has been extremely rewarding. Although difficult in the beginning, I always make time to right down key things from my day, tips to myself etc. Not everyday is perfect (that’s life ) but it allows you to reason with yourself and when you think you’ve had a “bad day” - you quickly start seeing the good that can come from it.
