I finally got to see a naturopathic doctor today, three years after the first one I went to. Over the last year, or perhaps it’s always been there, but something changed in my health and I have been struggling to figure this out on my own. I’ve had this gut feeling that my hormones are unbalanced, but I had no proof of how or why it would happen. After a lot of consideration, I realized it was time to pay the price and get the appropriate care and answers I’ve needed and DESERVE (we all do ). After speaking for two hours to my new doctor, I learned a lot of things about myself and I finally had someone validate the symptoms I’ve been feeling and feeling suspicious about. Both my primary doctor and rheumatologist have not expressed concerns about any of the things she found in my blood work, or have done any extensive physical exam on me. Although I’ve done a good job with my diet and lifestyle, hormonally I may not be balanced enough to lower the lingering inflammation in my body. I also may not be absorbing nutrients needed for metabolism and building immune strength. My lymph nodes and thyroid were a little swollen, my pupils aren’t responding to light the way they should be, and my body temp is elevated. I’m excited to get a salivary hormone and GI test done to see exactly what’s going on. Basically, I’ve been staying a float and avoiding joint damage and consistent high inflammatory markers, but my inflammatory system is still out of wack. I’m so happy that my husband and I forked out the money to get one step closer to my final healing process. I’m feeling optimistic again and it gave me a breath of hope. I needed this. I will definitely update you all as I work through this next chapter. Currently, she has me on B-12 injections and a high dose of vitamin D. My husband and I have made many sacrifices over these years and it’s all been worth it. I’m thankful for his unconditional love and support. 💕

Just tried @medicalmedium Mac and cheese recipe, minus the turmeric because I didn’t have any. I actually LOVE it, at first when I tried the sauce I wasn’t sure 😆 but everything together is delicious. Even my non plant based boyfriend LOVED it!!! 🥰He thinks shredded chicken would be really good in it so next time I make it I will split the recipe and put chicken in his half. Instead of water I think I will try veggie stock next time, I think it will add the perfect flavor. The recipe calls for either or. I LOVE when I find recipes he will eat too!!! He was shocked when I told him the sauce was made out of steamed potatoes, carrots and seasoning. This recipes is incredibly easy and fast!! #grainfree /vegan BLUEBERRY SCONES! Here’s the recipe: Combine 1 cup @bobsredmill paleo flour, 1 cup tigernut flour, 1/4 cup coconut sugar (you can do 1/3 cup of you like it on the sweeter side ), 1 tspn baking powder, juice and zest from half a lemon, 1/2 tspn vanilla and a pinch of salt. Add 1/4 cup of @miyokoscreamery vegan butter and use a fork to incorporate into dry ingredients. Fold in 1/2 cup of @foragerproject cashew yogurt until it forms a dough and then fold in 1/2 cup of blueberries. On a parchment lined baking sheet form a flat disc shape with your dough (it won’t rise too much ) and score it into 6 wedges. With a spatula carefully separate the pieces, leaving at least an inch between each one. Sprinkle with more coconut sugar on top and bake for 20-25 mins at 400° until golden. Cool slightly before enjoying. Best the first day but can be stored in an airtight container.. and also great reheated in the toaster or oven!

The triple-lumen central venous catheter. In the ICU, we insert these on the regular. Common reasons we place these devices include: poor peripheral venous access, multiple medication + fluid administration, and hemodynamic monitoring. These catheters come in different lengths and sizes and can be placed into the internal jugular, subclavian, and femoral veins for central access. This is often times the safest way to administer certain drugs such as vasopressors - which can cause tissue necrosis if they extravasate peripherally. Special care has to be taken with the placement and use of these lines because they are prone to infection! These are fun to place because we often times use ultrasound-guidance to ensure venous placement and it quite literally feels like a real life video game. The inscriptions on the individual tubes indicate where the ports on the other end of the catheter spit out and the diameter of each one, i.e. 16 gauge. Unfortunately, these are not the most comfortable lines for people to have hanging out of their neck or groin, but sometimes the severity of illness or clinical situation requires it for the right therapies to be given!

Just a quick post to share gratitude- I am so, so grateful for Anthony William. After dealing with, at times debilitating, health issues for basically two years and the last 5 months of being on @medicalmedium protocols, I am feeling so amazing! Someone pinch me. Sometimes I don’t feel like it’s real, or if I say it out loud or share it here, I’ll jinx myself. If I wouldn’t have found his books, who knows what condition I’d be in right now.
