I am SO much healthier than I was in my 20’s. I went from eating vegetarian and having lots of soy products to eating a diet that is paleo and more traditional and fat heavy, incorporating meat stock, cultured dairy and fermented foods. The combination of an eating disorder and eating vegetarian just about killed my gut. Now, I am so much better off not always having gut issues after just about every meal. When your gut is such that it is reacting to so many things, your diet just might have to change. ARE YOU GETTING ENOUGH OF THE RIGHT FAT IN YOUR DIET// Some nuggets of wisdom (as she would say ) from @gut_real When I say 'do you get enough fat in your diet', I bet the first thing you say is 'yes, I LOVE avocados, and snacking on nuts'...that's great. But let's talk about the EFAs (essential fatty acids ) that the body, in particular the digestive, nervous and endocrine systems, NEED to function and where these fats come from. We can get fats from animal sources and plant sources. Both are brilliant. However, animal fats are more bioavailable for the human body to digest and absorb. In fact, the egg yolk for example, almost completely absorbs across the gut lining without any need of being broken down and digested! Wowser! Unlike nuts on the other hand, although they contain healthy fats, the body puts a lot of energy into breaking it down before the nutrients can cross the gut lining. That is what I mean by animals fat sources are more bioavailable, or easier for the body to uptake. This doesn't mean that plant fats are bad, no not at all. But this COULD mean that in a compromised gut (or a leaky gut ), nuts are not tolerated as well and thus are harsh on the gut and difficult to break down properly, resulting in bloating, constipation, digestive discomfort and other problems. You might not think it, but this meal (lamb shank soup with tomatoes and veggies, a typical meal for me and my gut health nerds ) is high in EFAs and essential amino acids (proteins ) that are designed to heal and seal a leaky gut and nourish the nervous and endocrine systems. #weloveyaguts

For decades we have been told to stay away from fats. Skim milk and cheese, fat-free yogurt, butter substitutes, margarine and other hydrogenated oils replaced our traditional fats promising to make us healthy and slim. But what Is the consequence? - Diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, autoimmune diseases, hormonal and neurological issues. Fat is one of the primary substance our body uses to make hormones, cell membranes, brain, and cholesterol. It regulates body temperature,  provides energy and protection. Our body is created to deal with nature-made, not man-made fats. I mean anything that you indulge yourself in could be harmful to you. Even too much water could cause imbalance.  When it comes to fats, we have to be mindful of quality and quantity of it.  The 21st-century fats inflame and disease our bodies. They are exceptionally created for monetary gain and has no place in the human diet. Traditional fats in moderation have anti-inflammatory and medicinal properties: cold pressed oils, butter, ghee, coconut fat nourish and help us thrive. I made cauliflower, turmeric, scallion cream soup with 3 types of fats today - virgin olive oil, grass-fed butter, and coconut oil. I made some DELICIOUS BALM last night! I was out in the sun all day Friday, and my lips and skin have felt quite dry and sore since. I was craving something amazing, so at 10pm last night I found a little block of organic beeswax my sis bought me, melted it with coconut oil, olive oil, honey, vanilla, peppermint and lavender oil, rubbed it on and it feeeeeeels amaaaaazing!!!!! Yum🙌🏻 breakfast taco 🤤 28g shredded cheddar for the shell, 1 egg, 2 slices bacon 🥓 I cooked the bacon first , and then the egg in the bacon grease. Wiped out my copper pan WHICH I LOVE- and then threw the cheese in there. Flipped after 30 seconds and let it sit for another 30 seconds. Threw on a paper towel to get the grease off.. put egg on top of cheese shell and then added bacon and folded together. This my friends, is the most delicious pesto. Do you know why?? Because it’s made with the most delicious oil you will ever taste. I am not kidding when I say that it makes everything taste amazing! I pretty much add this pesto to every vegetable I can get my hands on. 🙌🏼 1 cup raw pumpkin seeds 1 large clove garlic 1 lemon, juice 1 cup cilantro leaves 1/3 cup balanced oil @bodybio 1/2 tsp sea salt Add your seeds, garlic and sea salt to a food processor. Add cilantro leaves, lemon juice and oil. Blend until smooth! KETO CREAMCHEESE FROSTING 🤩🤤 INGREDIENTS 8 ounces cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup (1 stick ) butter, softened 2/3 cup powdered erythritol (I used Swerve ) 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (no sugar added ) INSTRUCTIONS •In a medium bowl, cream the butter and cream cheese together with a mixer until fully combined. •Add the sweetener and vanilla extract and beat slowly until the sweetener is incorporated so it doesn’t get blown into the air. •Once the sweetener is incorporated, beat on high for 2 minutes or until fluffy. •Use immediately, or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week, or in the freezer for up to 3 months. . I don’t believe in a magic pill, but if there was one, I think for me it was this. ☝🏻 . After 10 years of a serious eating disorder, then another 15 years of food obsession, dieting, and restriction (especially fats ), plus an intense workout schedule, my body was so depleted and burnt out. #eatingdisordersawarenessweek Following a very difficult 2014, I enrolled in my nutrition program in 2015, but was still feeling incredibly overwhelmed, raw, and weepy. My instructor (who became a friend and mentor ) saw the obvious depletion. . So in 2015 I started making fat bombs on the advice of my nutrition instructor. This was 3 years before Keto was cool. 😎 #holisticnutrition 🙌🏼. . She gave me this recipe to get me off the sugar, and with no word of a lie, within 7-10 days my life long sugar addiction was broken. My body received the fats it was craving (it will convert sugar to fat if not available in the diet, so my low fat diet was part of the sugar craving ), plus these gave me a bit of sweet to satisfy the psychological effect of sugar while slowly weening off. . Within 4 weeks of drastically changing how I ate, I felt like my old self. I hadn’t realized how dead I felt over the last several years until I felt alive again. . More physical healing came quickly after that, and I still credit a high fat lifestyle for a major part of my final healing of disordered eating patterns. More about that later. . There are a bajillion recipes online for fat bombs due to the popular ketogenic diet, so check them out if you’re battling sugar/carb obsessions, but these are the super basic ones I started with (and probably still my fave ). . Peanut Butter Fat Bombs 🥜 💣 •1/2 cup natural peanut butter •1/3 cup coconut oil •1/2 cup cocoa powder •2 tbsp raw honey (or Swerve - it wasn’t readily available in 2015 ) •2 drops stevia (optional ) . Put all ingredients in saucepan on low/medium heat and stir until melted. Pour 1-2 tbsp into paper lined muffin tins and chill. Store in the fridge or freezer. Enjoy when a sweet craving hits, or anytime!

This pretty pink drink is more than it looks 😍 It has literally changed how I live my life 🙌🏻 I use to live by what time I could eat next and what was I going to eat? 🤔Cravings all day for chips and cheese and bread with butter etc.. then after I had my fill there, what kind of cookies or sweets could I steal from the snack cupboard?! 🤭 My mood was often a mask of happiness & jokes to cover up how disappointed I was in myself. 🥺Constantly giving into the “what I want now” vs what I want most- to be healthy and proud of my body that God has blessed me with❤️ After yo-yo-ing with every “diet” , app, and program you could find, I knew it wasn’t the meal plan, it wasn’t the workout plan, it was ME. It was MY decision to do something about it for REAL. It was time get up, shut up, and commit to a BETTER me 🙌🏻 Thank God I found Keto- a lifestyle that works for ME. Thank God for KETONES that HELP me get the best results possible. 😍 I don’t sit around and look at the clock ⏰ to see what time I get to eat next. Instead I’m too busy running around the house , cleaning, helping people get their lives aligned with their goals, exercising & happy!! Good Morning Friends. This is 13 days of consistency & KETONES. There is only a 4 lb difference here 😱 I haven’t lost on the scale this week , but clearly inches are going. Many people get frustrated when the scale doesn’t move for a whole week when you’re following your program, but the fact of the matter is , you WILL break through that number on the scale, you just have to be consistent and patient. Last night's dinner 😍🙌 BBQ cheddar bacon meatloaf 🤤😁 Ingredients Meatloaf Ingredients: 2 lb ground meat (I used turkey ) 1 cup shredded cheddar 1 tbsp dried minced onion 1 tsp dried minced garlic 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp chili powder 1 tsp ground mustard 1 tsp salt 2 oz sugar-free BBQ sauce 1 egg Topping Ingredients: 2 oz sugar-free BBQ sauce 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese 1/2 cup cooked chopped bacon (about 5 slices ) Instructions Preheat oven to 400. Combine all the ingredients for the meat and press into the bottom of a greased 9 x 13 casserole dish. Brush the barbecue sauce on top and sprinkle on the cheese and bacon.
