Respirare è un atto fondamentale. In corso di attività fisica gli atti respiratori aumentano di gran lunga. I limiti che possono esserci nel sistema che permette la respirazione possono essere dei grandi ostacoli all’economia della nostra postura così come forti limiti nella performance sportiva. Immagina un corridore, un ciclista o chi fa sport di resistenza dove la capacità respiratoria è l’elemento fondamentale. I muscoli che si occupano di espandere e incamerare aria nei polmoni hanno una stretta dipendenza dalla buona funzionalità della colonna vertebrale. Importanti limiti nella zona cervicale (ma anche a livello dorsale e lombare ) compromettono, infatti, la capacità di respirare in modo ottimale. Si è visto che i soggetti che soffrono di dolori al collo hanno un alterato meccanismo respiratorio e questo può influire sulla quantità e sulla qualità della respirazione. Se un soggetto sportivo deve soddisfare una certa richiesta d’aria sarà costretto a fare molta più fatica per utilizzare l’ossigeno e far uscire l’anidride carbonica e questo si traduce in una fatica precoce a scapito soprattutto di quei muscoli che devono fare il doppio se non il triplo lavoro per compensare. Cosa fare quindi? In primis bisogna valutare il funzionamento della colonna vertebrale e individuare i principali limiti che condizionano la normale attività dei muscoli respiratori e dopo correggere le disfunzioni con approcci terapeutici consoni che vanno dalla Terapia Manuale agli esercizi specifici fino ad arrivare alla ginnastica respiratoria. Un respiro più libero e naturale passa anche dal buon funzionamento della colonna vertebrale ma è vero anche il contrario. Pay close attention to your food consumption when trying to gain muscle. You must eat every 2 to 2.5 hours for optimal results. Sometimes i have to eat every hour and a half depending how active I am. Don’t be afraid to eat and if u can’t have a meal have a meal replacement shake. My favorite is 2 scoops of Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey with 1/2 cup of oats. It’s filling but digests fairly easy and I’m ready to eat again an hour later.
