So you’ve got mushrooms in your Metabolic Balance nutrition plan: Are they a protein or a vegetable? That is the question! Fish, meat, poultry, eggs and cow's milk products are great proteins. The vegetarian proteins are soy, legumes, sprouts, nuts and seeds and some mushrooms. In the case of mushrooms, however, a distinction is made between those rich in protein and those considered a vegetable. At Metabolic Balance we distinguish between protein and vegetable based on the biological value of the mushrooms. This is calculated based on the amount of protein in a food that our body’s can use directly - basically this needs to be a nice high number for us to consider it a protein. The protein mushrooms are oyster and shiitake mushrooms. They can be used fresh or dried, fried in a wok or pan. They make a great mushroom risotto-style dish with a delicious cauliflower rice! There’s no secret sauce for me. I’d eat all the things. I joke that if I “ate intuitively” then I’d just use my intuition to over eat. All. The. Time. . So although I was being funny to my girlfriend (yes this my actual text convo with her 👯‍♀️ ) here are some thoughts on satiety and not eating all the things. . 😋 Eat earlier in the day. A lot of our satiety is built by eating early. If you “save yourself for dinner” you’ll be back at the fridge at 8:30 pm. 😋 Load up on protein. It helps create satiety and keeps blood sugar more stable. 😋Make sure you get enough fibre, mostly from fruits and veg. 😋Decide what you’re eating, and whether you’ll “finish your plate” before your day or meal gets going. Research suggests we have a harder time saying no later in the day if we aren’t committed to a dinner option, and that we are very likely to clear our plates. Choose dinner before breakfast, and load your plate with care. 😋Remember your needs are not the same as everyone else’s. Many nights my 9 year old out-eats me. 😋Consider intermittent fasting if you’re struggling to keep your total daily calories in check. Make it about when, not what you eat. . BASIL and FRESH CORN (and leftover pasta?! ... more on that later ) FRITTATA.⁣ Total 'open the fridge and see what's in there' meal.⁣ ⁣ Such summery flavors from garden fresh basil and corn from my favorite local farm. Sweet warm deliciousness simply served with a green salad and crusty bread.⁣ ⁣ Basic frittata recipe premise: 9 EGGS plus VEGGIES and a hint of CHEESE! Probably no more than 1C grated cheese. Half in, half on. ⁣ Serves 6 grown ups or lots of little tummies.⁣ ⁣ I happened to have some cooked GF pasta in the fridge that was like really skinny macaroni and it somehow got added ... But it really worked. Provided a little filler and gave some grain (quinoa and brown rice ) to fill us up.⁣ ⁣ To the 9 beaten eggs I added:⁣ ⁣ 🌽3 ears of corn, cut off husk⁣ 🌿Big handful basil leaves⁣ 4 scallions, diced⁣ 🍝~2 cups cooked plain pasta⁣ 🧀1/2 cup grated cheese⁣ Salt and pepper⁣ ⁣ Plus 1/2 onion and 4 large kale leaves, chopped and softened in skillet before adding to everything else.⁣ Once it's combined in a mixing bowl, grease a skillet and pour in, sprinkle over remaining grater cheese. ⁣ Cooked on stove top for about 5 mins with lid on, then broiled for about another 5 mins.⁣ ⁣ #frittata #basil #corn #leftovers #dinner #easydinner #healthyrecipe #yum #brunch #lunch

GEMÜSE - KOKOS - CURRY 🥕🥥🌶️ mit oder ohne Hühnchen eine leckere Angelegenheit 😉 Für 4 Personen : 1 EL Erdnussöl 2 Knoblauchzehen, fein gehackt 1 Zwiebel, gehackt 1/2 TL Kurkuma, gemahlen 1/2 TL Kreuzkümmel, gemahlen 1 EL Koriander, gemahlen 1 Süßkartoffel, geschält + gewürfelt 750g - 1000g gemischtes Gemüse, Gefroren oder frisch, geputzt + klein 3 Frühlingszwiebeln, gehackt 250 ml Wasser 1 - 2 TL Meersalz 500g Hühnerfleisch, geschnitten 1 Dose (400ml ) vollfette Kokosmilch Chili und Currypaste, wenn gewünscht . Zubereitung : Wok oder größere Pfanne mit dem Öl erhitzen. Knoblauch und Zwiebeln darin leicht bräunlich anbraten. Wenn nötig noch etwas Öl zugeben, dann zugedeckt simmern lassen, bis die Zwiebeln glasig sind. Gewürze über die Zwiebeln geben, dann das Gemüse, Wasser und Salz hinzufügen. Simmern lassen, bis die Süßkartoffeln weich sind. Hühnerfleisch und Kokosmilch zugeben und weiter simmern lassen, damit sich die Aromen verbinden.
