1 out of every 10 women suffer from PCOS, and I am in 1 in 10 💙 • Finding out you have PCOS can be frightening, I know it was for me. I was 12 years old when I found out I had PCOS but it wasn’t until I was 23 I started taking ownership of my health. When I first found out I had PCOS, I was ashamed cause who wants to talk about their symptoms? symptoms of PCOS aren’t cute they are uncomfy and awkward. Of course I don’t want to explain to someone why I have unwanted hair, or that I’m not lazy because I’m over weight, or why I suffer from depression or anxiety even though life is good. I chose to bury it and become a victim of my own story. It was easier than facing the truth. I was my own inner bully and I lived most of my teens years feeling alone, lost, & miserable 🙃 • When I first got diagnosed I took metformin, spironolactone, birth control and saw tons of doctors but nothing seemed to work. Not even picking up every sport and seeing a personal trainer 3x a week so when I started my health journey again more than 10 years later. I decided to go the natural route which has been the best decision I’ve ever made for myself and that feeling of hopelessness and insecurity left and I’ve started to find my confidence and learn to love myself again after so long ♥️ • It wasn’t until recently I realized the importance of sharing that I have PCOS. It’s connected me to so many women, helped me find my purpose, and allowed me to live a life of being fully transparent. The truth is PCOS is so common & there is nothing to be ashamed of. So thank you to the cysters and supporters who’ve held me accountable, been there with me, and shown me an amazing community that I didn’t know existed because for so long I felt like one in a million. • • • • • • • • • • #pcosgirl #pcosawarenessmonth #pcosawareness #pcosweightloss #pcosfood #pcosdiet #pcossucks #pcosfighter #pcoswarrior #pcos #pcossupport #pcoslifestyle #lchf #hormonebalance #hormones #hormoneimbalance #cysters #cysterhood #pcoscysters #holistichealing #naturalhealing #bingeeatingrecovery #bossbabe #mentalhealthawareness #weightlossjourney #hormonalhealth #paleolifestyle

Little reminder.... NO ONE. Gets. To. Define. Your. Journey. Except. You. 👏 . I know it’s easy to compare ourselves to others, it’s just human nature (we alllll do it! )... but honestly it’s just energy wasted. Sometimes we look at others and we might resent them for not suffering as much as we might be, but the truth is we have NO IDEA what else is going on in other people’s lives or how much something might be affecting them. We are all going through different things, and will never really understand whats going on in other people’s lives. Just because you or I are might be going through a hard time, doesn’t mean someone else isn’t also having a hard time. Our journey’s shouldn’t be a contest about who has it worse, or better, but a chance for us to connect and support each other. Sometimes I feel bad about posting photos of me with Flynn because I know there are others struggling with infertility, or talk about clearing up my acne or healing my hair loss ect, but the truth is my PCOS journey is still as real as yours, and and my challenges are still very present and ever changing. So instead of comparing our symptoms and struggles, let’s lift each other up and support each other as much as we can🙌🙌🙌 We will never know what’s going on behind the scenes of someone’s life so let’s celebrate the wins and share the love! ..... And to finish this little rant, here is a cute pic of Flynn, because he is my ultimate win. 🙏🙌💘 #cysterhood #girlpower #staystrong #beyourownadvocate #pcosfacts #pcoscommunity #hormonalacne #acnetreatment #plantbased #plantpower #pcossymptoms #plantbasedpcos #pcos #pcosawareness #pcoswarrior #infertility #acnecure #pcosweightloss #infertilityawareness #pcoscysters #pcosdiet #cyster #polycysticovariansyndrome #acne #hormonebalance #fightpcos #periods #pcosawarenessmonth

I have been loving herbal teas lately and spearmint leaf tea is a delicious, minty herb that is high in antioxidants and a whole heap of benefits such as lowering blood sugar and improving digestion. 🌿 Spearmint leaves have compounds that may help balance hormones in women, including decreasing male hormones like testosterone and increasing hormones necessary for ovulation. 💚 . . . . #pcos #pcosawareness #pcosfighter #ttc #pcoswarrior #ttcsisters #pcosawarenessmonth #infertility #1in10 #ttcwithpcos #pcossupport #pcosweightloss #infertililityawareness #pcoscysters #fightlikeagirl #ttcjourney #pcosdiet #cyster #polycysticovariansyndrome #ttccommunity #metformin #acne #cysterhood #fightpcos #facesofinfertility #endocrine #hormoneimbalance #tryingtoconceive #cyster #wellness

One of my favorite things about cooking is that there are no rules. Once I realized this was when I truly started enjoying my time in the kitchen creating!⁣ ⁣ I was craving a cozy bowl of chili last night but didn’t have all the “right” ingredients to make it. Until I reminded myself of that no rules thing 😉 and ended up making the most delicious BLACK BEAN SWEET POTATO CHICKEN CHILI, ever.⁣ ⁣ Ingredients:⁣ 1 sweet potato, chopped⁣ 1 zucchini, chopped⁣ 1 half a red onion, diced⁣ 2 cups shredded chicken⁣ 1 tbsp avocado oil⁣ 1 tsp minced garlic⁣ 2 tbsp chili powder⁣ 2 tsp cumin⁣ 2 tsp paprika⁣ 2 tsp onion powder⁣ 1 tsp garlic powder⁣ 1/2 tsp black pepper⁣ 1/2 tsp pink salt⁣ 5 dashes hot sauce 1 16oz pouch of @osso_good_bones bone broth⁣ 1 15oz can black beans, drained+rinsed⁣ 1 15oz can diced tomatoes⁣ 1 15oz can tomato sauce⁣ ⁣ Method:⁣ Add avocado oil to a large stockpot over medium-high heat. Then toss in sweet potato and sauté for 5 minutes.⁣ ⁣ Add the diced onion and sauté for another 3 minutes. Fold in your zucchini, garlic + all seasonings and continue to sauté for 2 minutes.⁣ ⁣ Pour in the rest of your ingredients and lower to a simmer. Let cook for 15-20 minutes. Serve with grain-free tortillas + avocado and enjoy!

Cyster, this journey is much more emotional than it is physical. That’s why I always recommend that you train your mind while you’re training your body. In my virtual Academy, we do just that and let me tell you - it’s life changing! 💯 In what ways are you training your mind right now? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hello! Welcome to my journey to fighting pcos. Here’s my story👇 For the past 3-4 years, my periods were very irregular and sometimes wouldn’t come for 3 months, however I brushed it off and always blamed it on stress and other circumstances as I am a student. Alongside, I’ve also gained around 33 pounds despite not changing the way I was/am: eating a healthy clean diet and and working out often. I was a bit desperate and tried every diet you can imagine and different training styles but always put on weight (and always blamed it on myself despite the effort ). This is when I decided to go see a nutritionist and thought that maybe getting help by a professional would be beneficial. Despite being followed up and sticking to a very rigid diet and exercise regimen I still gained a bit of weight and my period was late again. That’s when I was advised by my nutritionist to go see a gynecologist. After blood tests and an ultra sound, turns out my AMH levels were very high and my blood sugar wasn’t on the low despite being very strict on my diet. I was diagnosed with PCOS. I had only heard of it once before but never knew what it really was. I was prescribed a hormonal pill and metformin “if I wanted to”, however I refuse to take any medication for the moment and I will first try to heal myself naturally first. Ever since, I have been researching like crazy, reading a lot and watching plenty of videos about women who cured themselves naturally. However I find it crazy how little info and how much indifference there is about a syndrome that affects 10 to 20% of women!

I am 1 in 10 and this is my PCOS story. I was so nervous about writing this because I didn’t want to expose myself or be vulnerable. But then I realised that it was only through all the other women who are brave enough to share their story that I have felt some sense of normality and calm amongst the confusion...that it’s all going to be okay and I can reverse my PCOS naturally. After coming off the pill almost two years ago, I had no sudden intense symptoms other than some weight gain, irregular periods, inflammation and, upon reflection, insulin resistance and some hair loss. I was originally put on the pill ‘Yasmin’ when I was 14 years old after explaining to my doctor that I had irregular periods. Fast forward 12 years (no breaks from the pill ) and I was 27, at a Nourish Melbourne event listening to @natkringoudis talk about the effects of the pill and that the bleed you were having wasn’t actually your period. WHAT!? I’m sorry!? I haven’t actually been having my period for all these years 🤯🤯🤯 So, off the pill I went. Thanks Nat! 🙌🏼 The past two years have been a huge struggle for me and my hormones. I’ve had irregular periods, fluctuating blood sugar and weight, mood swings and I’ve really struggled to find a clear diagnosis and answers. It’s been two years of trial and error, but I’m finally (I think ) on the right track. I’ve tried naturopaths, gynocologists, several doctors, acupuncture, kinesiology (one of my favourite forms of healing ), massage, homeopathy, herbs and teas, supplements, dieticians, yoga and a complete lifestyle, diet and environmental overhaul AND I still haven’t worked it all out! It’s can honestly be quite exhausting, expensive and frustrating. Luckily, I’ve been fortunate enough to marry my number one fan, travel and study over the past two years also. This has kept me grounded, grateful and...sane! I know in the long run it will benefit me and my approach to health and lifestyle. It’s already taught me so much about my body that I may have previously ignored or not taken the time to understand if I hadn’t had this hormonal imbalance, and for that I am grateful. Continued in comments...

I often keep silent about my fight with #pcos lately it’s been a real struggle. Medically it’s recently been disastrous to my body the pain and mood swings have been absolutely awful finally after being sent to the er by my doctor last month my concerns were heard and I head to an endocrinologist next week. My point behind this is if something feels wrong say something don’t wait until it turns to an er visit like I did. Don’t be ashamed of what’s happening it’s not your fault. To anyone else fighting with pcos stay strong friends ❤️❤️ #pcosawarenessmonth #goawaypain #cysterhood #speakup

Irma.. Again, A beautiful name.(I'm in awe of all the beautiful names I come across everyday through this community! ) Consistency, is what Irma reckoned has Helped her be on track with her PCOS friendly diet. Meal prepping is an essential part of ensuring you do not fall off the wagon. . Here's Irma's @pcos_metamorphosis story! . "I went to see my primary doctor and then endocrinologist in 2013 because I was wondering why I hadn’t conceived after TTC for over a year . I work out and try to be as consistent as possible with my meal prepping to manage PCOS effectively. . Not feeling woman enough due to growing too much body hair and losing too much hair on my head due to the hormone imbalance. Going through infertility and not knowing if I ever could carry a child of my own is the most heartbreaking. It comes down to body image and uncertain childbearing future. One advice I'd give to everyone who has PCOS , Don’t compare yourself to others success, just take control over you’re own health and be consistent. Change is coming at your pace. Do make the change, just don’t beat yourself over the success of people that are not in your shoes. #avapcos #pcos #pcoshairloss #herstory #pcosstory #pcosstrong #pcosmonth #pcosawareness #pcoslivingstrong #pcosstruggles #cysters #cysterhood #pcoscysters #pcoswarrior #pcosfighter #pcosfood #mealpreps #nutritioncoach #nutritionist #healthyeating #pcosworkout #pcossymptoms #infertilityawareness #infertilitystruggles #ivfdiet #ivfjourney #ivfpregnancy

✨PCOS-GUT CONNECTION✨⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Insulin resistance and inflammation are major drivers of PCOS and the symptoms that occur, but what is contributing to inflammation?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ There are over 30 studies (see my stories ) on PCOS and the gut, especially gut bacteria, which I think is a major driver to inflammation in PCOS. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 👩🏽‍🔬What The Science Says:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🔹The chronic low-grade systemic inflammation that occurs in PCOS is likely connected to the gut microbiome and integrity of the gut lining.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🔹Symptoms of PCOS improve with exposure to healthy bacteria in the gut. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🔹Those with PCOS have a lower diversity of gut bacteria.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🔹Those with PCOS have increased markers of leaky gut like LPS--which activates the immune system and can lead to chronic inflammation. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🔹Certain types of bacteria are increased in those with PCOS and are associated with androgen symptoms and insulin resistance. While other types of protective bacteria (like Akkermansia ) were decreased.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 👇🏼What Those With PCOS Can Do About It:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 1️⃣Eat a fiber-rich diet (lots of veggies and fruit ) to give your gut the prebiotics it needs to allow good bacteria to thrive. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 2️⃣Take a high quality probiotic⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 3️⃣Get your stool tested. I use the GI map with my clients since it uses DNA-based testing, shows good/bad bacteria, opportunistic bacteria/parasites/pathogens/yeast, but also gives a good picture of how your digestion is and inflammation.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ When you actually get to see what is going on in the gut, you can eradicate any stressors (parasites/pathogens ), repopulate, and truly work on healing. Test, don't guess! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I'm opening up my Hormone Healing Blueprint 1:1 program VERY soon where I offer hormone, gut, and nutrient balance testing. Not all hormonal issues can be cured with diet and lifestyle changes 🌿 sometimes medical intervention is needed 💊 I am certainly not anti-medication but if you could make changes in your life today to work towards naturally curing your imbalance without needing a prescription, why wouldn't you give it a try?! Addressing lifestyle factors including nutrition, exercise, stress and toxins could all substantially improve your fertility and balance. These include but are not limited to: ✔️ Eating a low GI diet ✔️ Determine what vitamins you are deficient in and supplement ✔️ Fixing your gut - include fermented foods, probiotics and high fibre foods ✔️ Exercise regularly but not excessively ✔️ Manage your stress - go for a walk, read a book, meditate, yoga, have a bath, cup of herbal tea, avoid toxic people in your life ✔️ Sleeping - go to bed earlier, stop scrolling an hour before bed, eliminate coffee and alcohol late in the day ✔️ Reducing toxins - chemicals in cleaning products, make up and plastic food containers can affect your hormones! 💮 Please comment below if I missed any game changers!! . . . . . . . . #pcos #pcosawareness #pcosfighter #ttc #pcoswarrior #ttcsisters #pcosawarenessmonth #infertility #1in10 #ttcwithpcos #pcossupport #pcosweightloss #infertililityawareness #pcoscysters #fightlikeagirl #ttcjourney #pcosdiet #cyster #polycysticovariansyndrome #pcossucks #ttccommunity #metformin #acne #cysterhood #hormoneimbalance #tryingtoconceive #cyster

Amenorrhea (loss of period ) is something I have experienced on and off throughout my life. My mother always told me "you're too slim you need to eat more!". I shrugged it off and said it's not the reason as my BMI was always in the healthy range, around 19-20. I ate a pretty healthy diet, regular meals and wide variety. I would go to the gym consistently about 3 times a week to do a HIT or cycle class (nothing extreme ) so again never considered myself to be one of those women who loses their period from intense training or under eating. It wasn't until we got a dog who required daily walking that things changed. I started to swap my early morning gym session for a quick walk around the block (15-20mins ). In turn, I naturally gained a bit of weight from not doing higher intensity work outs and my BMI was about 21. Guess what happened? I got my period ♥️ Eating a healthy diet does mean you can fit more into your day (especially if you're exercising! ). I was probably eating about 2,000 calories a day and doing a class would burn at least 300 of those calories off if not more! Now I always have some carbs before and after I train and I eat all my meals until I am fully satisfied 🙌 I try to eat mostly unrefined foods and have increased my healthy fat intake (dramatically ). My day is now more like 2,500 - 3,000 calories. My energy has improved 💯 and my periods are more regular then they have ever been! Fatigue/ amenorrhea? The simple answer may just be to eat more! 🍴🍎🥑🥥🥩🧀🍣🥗🥚What has your experience been? . . . . . . . . . . #pcos #pcosawareness #pcosfighter #ttc #pcoswarrior #ttcsisters #pcosawarenessmonth #infertility #1in10 #ttcwithpcos #pcossupport #pcosweightloss #infertililityawareness #pcoscysters #fightlikeagirl #ttcjourney #pcosdiet #cyster #polycysticovariansyndrome #pcossucks #ttccommunity #metformin #acne #cysterhood #fightpcos #endocrine #hormonebalance

Hi new friends 👋 . I am so happy you’re here ❤️ For those of you who are new around here, my name is Kristin - I am a Registered Dietitian and Mom of two year old twin girls 👶🏻👶🏻 . I am extremely passionate about nutrition for fertility and during pregnancy, because it was a huge piece of my story (and I truly believe it got me to where I am today with two beautiful twin girls ). . We struggled to get pregnant for almost 2 years even though nothing was “wrong”. I could go into so much more story here but I won’t bore you with the details. After listening to an incredible physician speak on fertility, I dug deep into the research and made some big changes in our home. A few months later found out we had spontaneously conceived fraternal twin girls (PSA: please don’t ever ask a twin Mom if her twins were “natural” ) . I feel SO connected to moms and moms-to-be. Until you experience the responsibility of nourishing and growing a human both inside and outside of your body, it’s difficult to really understand what it truly means. . I work with women in these stages of their lives because that is the journey that I walk. There is so much that women need to know that is often not shared with them during their traditional preconception and prenatal visits. My goal is to help close that gap and get this information into the hands of every woman who wants it. . I’d like to finish off this introduction with a few random facts 🙊 . 1 ) I love the taste of black licorice. 2 ) I actually don’t hate the smell of skunk. 3 ) I highland danced for 20 years before I retired. . I’d love to get to know you! What’s one random fact about you?! *Pictured: me with one of my beautiful twin girls, Aspen 🌳 while she was in the NICU

Anyone else still feeling the effects of last nights beautiful Harvest moon? 🌑 💫 Its funny, because I honestly never used to track the moon, but after learning how much it impacts our cycles and our emotions I now make an effort to try to tune it with it every so often. 🙏. Well I don’t know about you, but after the last moon which was all about hustling and getting focused(thank you Virgo ) I am sooooo ready for some dreamy Pisces vibes! ... but I am a Pisces baby so I might be a little bias here hehe 💦. . Anyway you may have a had a slightly restless night last night (i know @mymoonbox and I had a lovely 2.30am chat 😂 ) BUT don’t worry because you are about to feel some seriously chill vibes thanks to the Full Moon in Pisces, as it’s basically just one but giant cuddly water bed! 💤 💫 🌊🌸. So I for one will be turning inwards and allow myself this time to enjoy the beautiful floating sensations... 🌊🌊🌊. . . Just a little word of warning: Sometimes we can get a little toooo comfy in Pisces (i know i can! ), so just try not to get lost at sea. 🚣‍♀️. Anyone else on here follow the moon? Passion. This word has really become my “em-oh” this week. I have felt so much passion that I haven’t had TIME to fear anything. . My kids. The passion I have to help my students feel safe within their bodies and bring them to a healthy place in order to thrive in their program has become so overwhelming this week. It’s driving my graduate work, my future career, and my professional life in so many ways. . Nutrition. Since working with my AMAZING dietician the past 8 weeks, I have learned so much about nutrition and how it affects our bodies. I’ve been able to carry a lot over into my own work while managing Type 1 diabetes in a non-verbal child with autism. I’ve been able to help co workers find creative ways to add more nutrient-dense foods into their diets. I just plain-old care about myself and my body way more than I have in the past. . Education. My passion to continue my studies, to learn every single thing I can about nursing and health has become a focus for me. My desire to educate my peers, future nursing students, and my families at work about health is incredible. . There is so much passion going on, I don’t have time to fear failure anymore. . #pcos #pcosnutrition #pcosnurse #bodypositive #healthythoughts #healingwithnutrition #foodismedicine #healthiswealth #hormonebalance #cysterhood #cysters #cystersquad #ovaryit #getovaryit #polycysticovariansyndrome #chronicillness #chronicpain #chronicfatiguesyndrome

ARE YOUR BELIEFS KEEPING YOU STUCK?✨ - I think it’s a common thought that to change our eating behaviors to make an impact on our physical body, whether that is for a specific health goal or to heal a physical symptom (common ones I see are fatigue, low energy, gut issues, PMS, period problems, among others ) that if we just have a plan and know what to do then we’ll get there. - Habits are automatic & they are driven by our subconscious mind. Our subscious mind is a memory bank of everything that has ever happened in our lives. It shapes our worldview. It also our comfort zone – the thoughts & actions that keep you where you are. Your subconscious does not want you to change established patterns of behavior & this is to keep you safe. - I took a breathwork workshop with a man named Alan and in that class he talked about the concept of basement beliefs. What are those beliefs that are driving our behaviors? - If we have emotion (strong desire ) to make a change, the knowledge to do so, and even a plan, what keeps us stuck? It’s our basement beliefs that impact our thoughts because our mind is thinking it’s keeping us safe. - Our beliefs are determined by things that have happened in our lives and while we cannot change those experiences we CAN change our beliefs. Our beliefs can dictate where we derive our source of self worth. We play out behaviors to support these and this can impact our food beheviors, which can affect the balance of our physical body, leading to changes in our body or phsycial symptoms, that keep us in this loop (check out @danajames book The Archetype Diet for more on this ). To get unstuck we have to uncover the basement beliefs driving the bus. - We can do this through: journaling, using affirmations, a willingness to change and get UNCOMFORTABLE, sitting in that discomfort, being gentle with the process, releasing the HOW, digging into shadow work (read the book the Dark Side of the Light Chasers ), meditation, & hypnosis are all tools to explore - If you’re looking for guidance on the plan / nutrition knowledge to support your hormones check out my NEW 4-Week Hormone Balancing Meal Plan (one week for each phase of your cycle ) link in bio✨

I find that PCOS is one of the only conditions where women have TRUE power to change their health and take charge of how they feel 💪🏼🙌🏼 ⠀ It's been shown time and time again that nutrition 🍎 and good self-care 💆🏻‍♀️ can DRAMATICALLY reduce symptoms and prevent future health issues women with PCOS are prone to. ⠀ Having had my own struggles with hormonal imbalances, and knowing what a difference food can make is why I feel it's my mission to show women that HEALING can be S I M P L E, empowering and truly life-changing when done correctly, without dieting or restriction 💛 ⠀ Also, as a mom, it's important to me to help women conceive, carry and deliver a baby in the healthiest way possible, should they choose to do so. ⠀ You have the power to change your life. You CAN feel good, safe and at home in your body. Let's get there together.

I can’t even tellllll you how amazing it feels to see so many people (who don’t normally delve into the topic ) discussing PCOS! 👏🏼⁣ ⁣ As with any chronic condition, the more conversation we have on this topic and the more others take note, the more research opportunities open up to find a cure. 🙏🏼⁣ ⁣ 1 in 10 women has this condition and yet I hear so often from women who don’t have it: “what’s PCOS?!” ⁣ ⁣ PCOS looks different on everyone and you don’t need all of these symptoms to be diagnosed:⁣⁣ 🔺Irregular or absent periods⁣⁣ 🔺Infertility ⁣⁣ 🔺Cysts on your ovaries (found via an ultrasound )⁣⁣ 🔺High AMH levels ⁣⁣ 🔺Acne⁣⁣ 🔺Hair growth on your face or body ⁣⁣ 🔺Hair loss on your head ⁣⁣ 🔺Difficulty losing weight, despite exercising and cutting calories ⁣⁣ 🔺Fatigue⁣⁣ 🔺Mood swings, anxiety, depression⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 🙋‍♀️There is no cure for PCOS, but you can greatly improve your symptoms (and restore your fertility ) through nutrition, exercise, lifestyle changes, or a combo of all three. ⁣⁣ ⁣ Let’s keep the conversation flowing even after #pcosawarenessmonth is up! 💁‍♀️⁣ ⁣ #pcosawareness #pcos #cysterhood #cyster #cystersquad #pcoslifestyle

Studies have shown that women with #PCOS were able to improve their cholesterol after 12 weeks of simple workouts like cardio. The women did not even need to lose weight to see improvements in cholesterol. Exercise can do wonders for your health whether you lose weight or not. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What is your favorite exercise to do?

Did you get your vitamin D today? 🌞 my vitamin D levels tested pretty low so we are working to build that back up but like hormones it takes a little while to work itself out. Getting out in the sun everyday just for a little while really makes a difference, especially if you’re like me and work inside 🕸 vitamin D also plays a role with hormone production and well as zinc levels so it’s really important to keep everything in balance (where I’m aiming - balance ) ⚖️ . . . . . #vitamind #vitaminsun #healthjourney #pcosjourney #cysterhood #hormoneimbalance #healingnaturally #mypcos #pcosawarenessmonth #pcoslife #pcoscysters #healingpcos

Today has been one of those days. Although I have just started sharing, we have been trying since 2012. We are not newly starting this journey. We went in with our eyes open this time. We have tried so many times and so many times it has failed. So many times it has been negative. I want to be pregnant so bad. I think of all the people I know expecting. I think of all of you wonderful new friends that have been so successful and blessed on your journey. And I am so very happy for you all! I do not wish infertility on anyone. But... I cannot help but battle some emotions- when will it be us? When will it be our turn? When will God bless us and grant the petition of our prayers? #infertily #infertilitysucks #pcos #pcossucks #ttcwithpcos #feelingemotional #whenwillitbemyturn #pcosawareness #emotions #pcoscysters #cysterhood #cystersunited #cystersquad #whileimwaiting

Oats- Do you love them or hate them? Me, I’m a big fan. Like seriously big. When I was trying out the keto diet the thing I missed the most was oats. So I was very happy to welcome them back into life 🙏🙌. I love steel cut oats because they are a less processed, more natural version of the oat. They do take a bit longer to cook, and have a slightly different texture but they are super Yummmmmmy!!!! I also have a sneaky trick I use to turn this meal from regular oats to SUPERCHARGED HORMONE BALANCING OATS. 🙌🙌 Can you guess what It is? 🙈🙌 . . . . #plantbased #oats #steelcutoats #porridge #plantpower #overnightoats #skinfood #acnefree #glutenfree #plantbasedpcos #pcos #pcosawareness #pcosfighter #pcoswarrior #pcossupport #pcosweightloss #infertilityawareness #pcoscysters #fightlikeagirl #veganeats #veganbowl #pcosdiet #acne #cysterhood #pcos #hormones #hormonalacne #pcosfighter #pcoswarrior #pcossupport #infertilityawareness #pcoscysters #cyster #polycysticovariansyndrome #hormoneimbalance #hormonebalance

𝓘 𝓳𝓾𝓼𝓽 𝔀𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓮𝓭 𝓽𝓸 𝓪𝓿𝓸𝓲𝓭 𝓼𝓹𝓪𝓷𝔁 𝓭𝓾𝓻𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓱𝓸𝓵𝓲𝓭𝓪𝔂𝓼... . But I didn’t know how to without feeling like a busted can of biscuits. I would dread my office parties and family gatherings because I had negative self confidence. The inner bitch voice would be telling me that everyone was staring / making fun of me, or that I looked like crap. So...I would buy a dress I only semi-hated and wear spanx that were honestly uncomfortable. But i felt like it was my best chance of looking better, so I suffered in silence. . . This year? I’m 30 pounds lighter and honestly excited for this holiday season. I get to wear clothes other people my age are wearing, and am actually looking forward to getting my dress for my holiday party ! I won’t be donning spanx this year even tho I haven’t hit my goal weight. Why? . Because In addition to losing 30 pounds, I’ve done a lot of internal work this year. I don’t even know the last time I really listened to the radio other than with tony because I’m constantly listening to podcasts that help with mental health. I really stress this to the girls in my accountability group as well, because 𝕐𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕓𝕠𝕕𝕪 𝕨𝕚𝕝𝕝 𝕠𝕟𝕝𝕪 𝕒𝕔𝕙𝕚𝕖𝕧𝕖 𝕨𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕞𝕚𝕟𝕕 𝕨𝕚𝕝𝕝 𝕝𝕖𝕥 𝕚𝕥 . Now that I have grown so much over the last 4 years I wish other Cysters could see their potential as much I as do. The only thing I regret is not making my lifestyle changes sooner. All of the excuses became my reasons and I became the journey of self discovery and loving myself the way I deserve to be loved. I stopped the self sabotage and began to seek progress, gather community, and unapologetically sharing my journey on social media in hopes to inspire others. 💕 Are you on a journey to live your best life? If not, why not?! Drop an emoji to describe your journey right now!! 👇🏻

About 3 years into trying to conceive I was in a DARK place. I was angry, bitter, almost always on the verge of tears, and felt like a victim. It was a really ROUGH place to be. My mom and I were walking through Hobby Lobby looking at pretty stuff, laughing, and enjoying being together. As we were walking I spotted a sign and I started to weep. Not just quiet tears that you wipe away hoping nobody notices... no no... straight up UGLY CRYING. I am about 99.9% sure there was snot involved. So my mom, in true mom fashion, just holds me tight while I blubber all over her without a care in the world about what other people walking by must be thinking. I had seen this beautiful, glowing, pregnant young woman looking at a sign that said “For this child I have prayed.” In that moment, I was full of rage. I was so stinkin ticked off at the audacity of this lady to think she knew what that meant as she stood holding her baby bump. I knew that particular scripture was Hannah talking about her son Samuel. I knew that much like me, Hannah labored in prayer for Samuel‘s existence. So much so that people thought she was drunk and talking to herself, but really she was just constantly praying and pleading with God to fill her womb. That kind of praying for a child was something I knew… know... well. You know what I didn’t know well? The story of this poor woman in Hobby Lobby shopping for her nursery. There’s so much sin and yuck in this story. Seriously so embarrassing. So why am I sharing it? To bring hope. Here I am eight years into trying to conceive and able to say boldly and confidently, that it does get easier. I didn’t say easy, it’s definitely not easy, it just gets easier. I can’t give you magic tricks and tips to healing the heart. I didn’t do anything to heal my heart, God did. In these years the pruning has been difficult and painful and hard, but I’ve seen God grow me in big ways. I have seen God change me in big ways. It didn’t happen overnight. It was a little changes day by day. God showing me little mercies every day. God giving me glimpses of his goodness every day. Not only in my life, but in others lives. (Continued in comments )

My #pcos journey 🎢 (2 of 2 ) __ My doctor never diagnosed me, never checked my vitamin D, and told me my thyroid was fine. Things got worse during my 4th year at med school (huge stress component ) and I started seeing a colleague. That's when things started shifting; and after I wrote my board exams and got my license, I started working even harder to get my health back on track. __ I did a LOT of testing and continue to do testing ever since: bloodwork, ultrasounds, saliva month-long hormone tests, iodine testig, food sensitivity testing and DUTCH. Using these tools, we could see what was happening in my body and be specific about a treatment plan. __ What got me here (and keeps me here ): ✅ Acupuncture ✅ Plant-based nutrition ✅ Inositol ✅ Regular exercise ✅ Getting help and testing done ✅ Thyroid support ✅ Curcumin ✅ Magnesium ✅ Vitamin D ✅ Herbal teas and tinctures ✅ Self-care and stress management (my periods will become irregular during particularly stressful months but I also tend to eat not as well then ) __ My routine changes and my supplement regimen changes based on how I'm feeling and what my labs show. My patients may be on a similar plan or it might look pretty different - it depends on testing, symptoms, goals, and lifestyle. __ Whatever you're dealing with, seek the appropriate help, don't settle, and start making your way to feeling better! If I can do it and my patients can do it, so can you 💕 __ #pcosawarenessmonth #pcoscysters #cysterhood #hormones #thyroidhealth #thyroid #fertility #infertility #womenshealth #nutrition #plantbased #vegan #vegetarian #health #wellness #naturopathicdoctor #vegannaturopath #naturopathicmedicine #auroranaturopath #yorkregionnaturopath #drannehussainnd

September is PCOS awareness month ⚠️ What is PCOS? Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a metabolic syndrome best defined as a group of symptoms related to high androgens (male sex hormones ) & anovulation (the absence of ovulation ). 💛 Symptoms may include: irregular cycles, polycystic ovaries, insulin resistance, hirsutism, acne, hair loss, weight gain, infertility, & anxiety. It is believed that 1 in 10 women suffer from PCOS. Though there is currently no cure for it, there are many ways to relieve the symptoms. 💫 Doctors usually treat by giving birth control, metformin, or even ovary drilling which end up being more hurtful than helpful. 😩 Instead, opt for a natural & better treatment such as exercise, intermittent fasting, a blood sugar balancing diet, stress reduction, healthy weight loss, & supplements. 😁 Do you or anyone you know have PCOS? #PCOS #PcosAwarenessMonth #Cyster #Cysterhood #1in10 #houstonblogger #TexasBlogger #blogger #writer #christianblogger

In 2013 I only got my period three times. I rapidly gained a bunch of weight and the few random pimples I had turned into full blown cystic acne. ⁣ ⁣ I went to a gyno and got an ultrasound and was told that I had cysts and based on my symptoms I had Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome #PCOS ⁣ ⁣ I went into that office complaining that I was trying everything but couldn’t lose weight. ⁣ ⁣ The doctor’s response: You HAVE TO lose weight and you HAVE TO take the pill and there’s NO CURE for PCOS. ⁣ ⁣ My response:🖕🏼I’ll show you. (Ok I just mentally gave him the finger, not for real ).⁣ ⁣ Fast forward several months. I went to nutrition school with the NTA and learned that BLOOD SUGAR DYSREGULATION & inflammation were at the root of my hormonal imbalance. ⁣ ⁣ Blood sugar? “But I don’t have diabetes,” I thought to myself. ⁣ ⁣ As it turns out, blood sugar dysregulation is a big spectrum. It can range from mildly impaired to severely impaired. ⁣ ⁣ And after learning about what blood sugar issues felt like, I knew it was my root cause. ⁣ ⁣ In February 2018, I changed from a paleo diet to a keto-paleo diet. I continued eating a ton of vegetables, had high quality protein but took away fruits and other paleo carbs (like sweet potatoes ) and swapped them for fats. ⁣ ⁣ I also began fasting. Intermittent, 24-hour, and extended fasting. ⁣ ⁣ All of my PCOS symptoms went away. No more acne. Regular periods. Weight stabilized. ⁣ ⁣ PCOS is a syndrome (collection of symptoms ). I no longer experience ANY of the symptoms and therefore do not consider myself to have PCOS. ⁣ ⁣ (I may or may not still have cysts on my ovaries but cysts alone are NOT enough to give a diagnosis. You must have other symptoms. Some women with cysts never have any symptoms ). ⁣ ⁣ My take home messages:⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣ Don’t listen to your doctor when they say there’s no cure. There is no pharmaceutical cure, sure, but you can reverse your PCOS. ⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣ Blood sugar & inflammation are the root causes of PCOS. You don’t have PCOS that causes insulin resistance. It’s the other way around. This is good news because now it’s easier to treat! ⁣ ⁣ 3️⃣ Love yourself along the way. You can’t shame yourself into health.

12 pounds from Sage, 20 pounds from Grey. That's what my body is carrying around all day. I am literally carrying the weight equivalent of my first child. Sometimes I pick Grey up and its like "damn girl, when did you get so big?!" and then I'm like "damn Heather, how are you carrying all this around all the time?!" Motherhood is tough enough, here I am making it 32 pounds harder on myself. SMH. ⠀ ⠀ There's a bit more to this story, I have PCOS. If you don't know PCOS, let me introduce you to this bitch. She causes acne, irregular (or absent in my case ) periods, hard to lose weight and infertility. And that's just my symptoms. Other women experience head hair loss, face and body hair growth, dark skin patches, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol and obesity. This bitch is fierce and she's all up in our shit, affecting 1 in 10 women. ⠀ ⠀ Also, I don't like to work out and I sometimes eat my feelings 🙄 which is like number 1 and 2 things you absolutely should not do if you have PCOS. But I'm a human and I'm honest, so stick with me while I profess my intentions for yet another go at slipping out of these 32 pounds like the size L pj pants that they are. ⠀ ⠀ I will lose this (3 year old ) baby weight. I will workout and I will like it. I will stop standing in the kitchen at midnight eating oatmilk ice cream, recounting all of the ways that I could have been a better mother that day. Now, someone hide all of my spoons. ⠀
