SUNDAY SUGGESTION! Don’t blame your genetics. Instead, take control of your lifestyle. The American Medical Association released a statement claiming 90% of chronic dis-ease (diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and more ) are due to lifestyle. We used to believe that our genetics pre-disposed each of us to different health conditions. For example, “everyone in my family has high cholesterol, so I am destined to have it”. However, we now know this statement is completely false!! We are NOT pre-disposed to illness. We live in an incredibly toxic world. Whether that be the readily available processed foods and refined sugars, the 77,000 man-made chemicals, the massive overdose of EMF’s, or the sedentary lifestyle we have adapted as a species. All of these, and many more, are incredibly detrimental to human health. Eat organic whole foods, mostly plants, and not too much. Use natural, plant based products to avoid excess exposure to carcinogenic (cancer causing ) and estrogen mimicking chemicals. Limit your screen time as blue light interferes with our natural diurnal rhythm of cortisol and melatonin production. Get out in nature and shoot for 10,000 steps a day. My little boy is 29 weeks old TODAY!!! And so often I reflect on what HE has accomplished in those 29 weeks (considerably more than I, however... ), I feel I am remiss that I don’t reflect more often on how much I have done in the last year and a half. Growing a whole human being is hard, learning to love your ever-changing body is hard, leaving work and then leaving your new love to go BACK to work is hard, healing from the physical feat of childbirth is hard, riding the hormone roller coaster is hard, redefining your partnership to include a new little persons needs is hard, feeling so connected to someone because they were once you and then feeling them become their own person separate to you is hard, sleep deprivation is hard, New-mother loneliness is hard, and not feeling connected to yourself in the same way because now your body has done all these things by itself and thrown your proprioception for a loop is REALLY hard. What has surprised me the most was the wonderful and crazy ride of emotions attached to the feeling that my body was no longer mine, and the feeling that it is starting to become mine once again. It did this amazing thing for another person’s LIFE and changed so much to do so. And now, as he breast feeds less and less and my body looks like it carried a child less and less, I feel sadness and joy at the thought of my body being for ME again. It’s been a crazy ride. And I know I’m far from done but things are definitely shifting. In me, around me... things are shifting. Week 4 of the #12weekchallenge done! .. .No booze .intermittent fasting Confession I passed the no booze - obviously ...but intermittent fasting actually turned into 2000kcals a day....wayyy more than I used to eat AND I still lost 0.7kgs . . Got a case of the Sunday scaries? Worried about Monday? Monday’s don’t have to suck you guys! Just plan for them! * For me, Sunday’s are spent planning for the week. I grocery shop, meal prep, and clean my apartment to make sure my Monday starts out fresh. I lay out my favorite workout clothes, mix up my preworkout and put it in the fridge, lay out my work clothes, and even lay out everything that I need for breakfast and my postworkout shake. It may sound extreme but it seriously helps when you wake up at 4:45. * It’s so important for me to start my Monday out on a good foot. It sets the tone for my entire week. If I crush my workout and stick to my meal plan on Monday, I’m more likely to do the same the rest of the week. If I snooze my alarm, skip my workout, and eat garbage, the rest of the week is more likely to follow suit. * So I want to encourage you guys to crush your Monday. On Amazon Prime last night I came across a HBO pilot I did with @LauraDern on her show back in 2010 called #Enlightened At the time I was just a struggling wannabe actor with no direction or help at all trying to make it in the TV & film biz slaving away by doing minimum wage non union background work. On the day that I shot this scene, it was my day off & while I was sound asleep in bed, I was woken up around 5am & was asked if I can do a rush call from my home in Hollywood to drive 40 miles north in morning rush hour traffic to be on set in Valencia by 7am to replace someone hired who didn't show up. I've never been one to turn down a opportunity to work as I genuinely love being a part of the film biz, for better or worse it's my life momentum so you'll never be let down by my work ethic that I bring to a set. That being said & thinking that I'm being hired for minimum wage that day as a waiter I was told later that I would be upgraded to a principal acting contract role by uttering the words "excuse me miss" & graciously hugged by Laura Dern herself while @SarahBurnsMe watches on awkwardly from her car, this was considered my 1st legitimate mainstream acting job. Moral of the story is this, I made almost $1000 for a 10 second scene for saying 3 words & got hugged by the Jurassic Park lady,lol So for those of you that never wanted to work over night calls, weekends, lower rates, long distance drives, bad weather conditions, cattle calls etc... jobs, thank you for letting me have YOUR opportunity, because you never know what you could have gotten if you would have said yes! 😉🤙
