#basiliqueyamoussoukro #yamoussoukro #largestcathedralintheworld #houphouetboigny #cotedivoire #ivorycoast #elfenbeinküste #africanarchitecture #africanchurch #africanhistory #ivorianhistory #exploreafrica #africanadventure #travelafrica #africatravel #realafrica #grandtourafricain

One of the surprising observation about the Addis was the huge quantity of buildings under construction.

One of Melrose Arch's most recognisable intersections is framed by this building, taken by @lottermichael Do you know who designed it? It's not too late to support this project, #runningthestreetsoflagos to support @khanfoundationng junior academy school 3 continues.Yiu too, can #run #Repost from @teygah0001 with @regram app ... We’re completing the ceiling work. Here, we use okpa (palm fronds ) as our ceiling material. We hope to complete this by Friday. Also, we need to finish some parts of the interior with plywood sheets for thermal comfort and aesthetics... (60 sheets of 4” by 8” plywood is needed for this ) . We would finish the floors of the school isle with artificial carpet grass to give it a complete jungle feel and make our classroom next to nature as much as possible... Our goal is to create a non disruptive learning environment that simulates an environment they’re familiar with #khanfoundationng #forafricabyafrica #faba #africanarchitecture #prisonerofhope

#Repost @ekoweshun with @get_repost ・・・ The Hôtel du Lac in Tunis, was built in the 1960s as a symbol of modernity in Tunisia. Shaped like an upside-down pyramid with serrated edges, each of the building’s ten floors protrudes to a further room width, with the result that the top floor is twice as wide as the ground level. Designed by Italian architect Raffaele Contigiani it enjoyed a glamorous heyday after opening its doors, with singer James Brown among its A-list clientele. It’s said that the shape of the hotel inspired the design of the Jawa’s Sandcrawler desert vehicle in Star Wars: A New Hope. . . . . . #afrofuturism #afrofuturist #modernarchitecture #Africanarchitecture #urbanplanning #urbanscape #unbanlandscape #architecturelovers #urbanview #urbanscene #urbanism #urbandesign #brutalism #modernarchitecture #Africanarchitecture #modernarchitecture #concrete #brutalismarchitecture #concretearchitecture #concrete #brutal_architecture #brutalist #brutal_architecture #brutalist_architecture #brutalarchitecture #tunisia

In a February 2018 report titled "Ruin As Ornament", by @deyemi a (Art and Architecture historian, Architecture Photographer, and 2016 recipient of the H. Allen Brooks Travelling Fellowship ), he shares his musings on the facination of the human race with ruins. He writes; "I am not from a culture that values ruined objects. We see and relate to them more as an eyesore than vestiges of a great past. In fact, culturally, we are obligated to repair, replace or remove ruined objects. As a historian, who is also Yoruba, being in Greece presents a chronic and well-founded conflict within me. Thankfully, culture alone does not inform my actions." Shooting buildings within universities is easy, it's a cheat even; wide views, no fence, large expanse - most especially in Nigeria, where every building is guarded by a fence and a gate. I wonder what my photographs will look like when I begin to lack this privilege. #documentinglagosarchitecture #buildinglagos #lagosarchitecture #nigerianarchitecture #securityarchitecture #abstractarchitecture #architecturalphotography #architecturephotographer #architecturalphotographer #documentaryphotography #nigerianarchitecturalphotographer #architectureinafrica #africanarchitecture #documentary #architecture #arquitectura #architettura #architektur #symmetry #geometry #structure #rhythm #facade #nigeria #unilag #lagos #art #yení

. H O W T O A N S W E R A F O O L SickleCell | Twitter | Post . . They say ‘Silence is the best answer for a fool’. . Quite some time ago, I sent out a poster on Sickle Cell Day (19 June ) with the tweeted message: . . ‘I am a Sickle Cell father, sibling and uncle. Time to move the conversation beyond scaremongering’. . . My good friend Ireti Bakare Yusuf @sisiogelagos retweeted it. Just yesterday, there was a notification of a reply. It was from some Social Worker in the UK, Theophilus Haastrup @THEOPHILUShaas1 (obviously a Nigerian immigrant ). In bad English, he replied: . ‘So what’s is about Sickle cell, there are uncountable sickle cell beings here in London doing well in health and wealth, so what about it’. (sic ) . I read some of the tweets from the timeline of this ignoramus and realised he was just that. And he is a social worker. . The Sickle Cell Warriors I know in London work hard to stay healthy, just when others are playing hard after a hard day’s work. They work hard but control their fun and life. They go for blood transfusions that the idiotic Haastrup probably has no need to. That I have no need to. They have taken medication all their life, every day. They have the most painful crisis with no warning ⚠️ In the workplace, school or at home alone. . There are ‘uncountable’ infant deaths in our rural areas because poor and unenlightened parents cannot cope with the needs of Sickle Cell children, and we do not have enough clinics in those areas to attend to them. There are many deaths in [that same] London of our beautiful Nigerian brothers and sisters from Sickle Cell and this moron replies a tweet in this manner. . Please take this post as information so that you may help battle Sickle Cell in any way you can. I cannot answer to drivel so the Twitter thread ends there. . . . . . . . . . .

#mosquéesamoritouré #bondoukou #cotedivoire #ivorycoast #elfenbeinküste #lehmmoschee #lehmarchitektur #africanarchitecture #africanhistory #samori #samoritouré #samory #samorytoure #abendlicht #eveninglight #africansky #africanadventure #exploreafrica #travelafrica #africatravel #realafrica #wildafrica #westafrica #afriquedelouest #grandtourafricain
