I always try to evaluate the people who I am surrounding myself with, to make sure they are helping me grow as a person, have similar interests, or have new intriguing interests and knowledge that I can learn and grow from. One of the ways I have been able to meet people has been Bumble. Bumble has 3 different modes Bumble Date, BFF and Bizz. I think Bumble is the ultimate way to connect for so many reasons.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ The drinking and smoking filters are very convenient. For Bumble Date, I filter out smokers, and for bumble date and BFF I like the option to filter for people who drink “sometimes” or “never”. The Bumble “verified” makes me feel a little bit more safe when meeting up with someone and that I am not being catfished. I always make sure to meet up in a public place in safe setting. When I am traveling, meeting up with locals helps me also feel like a local. I especially LOVE Bumble’s “local” filter to find people who are local to the area. I grew up summering in the Hamptons, a place I know all of the secrets and ins and outs of. FIRE NEEDLING 🔥 I’ve been getting some neck pain relief recently with some of the techniques used by @jmadly7 at @cscm_nyc In addition to this pain being chronic, I am also a good candidate for fire needling due to the fact that my neck pain gets worse when exposed to the cold. The treatment for these sinew groups often involved the fire needle in ancient times. Because the environment we live in today is much different than 2000 years ago, the fire needle is a tool a classical acupuncturist will use when pain syndromes are chronic and do not resolve even with the best physical medicine procedures (including previous acupuncture sessions ). These pain syndromes often involve areas of dense fibrous tissue, that continues to restrict and resist treatment. @thefuelstopnyc is an Urban Spa located at Central Park South. It was created so busy New Yorkers could have a space to reap the benefits of a wellness treatment in a short period of time and continue to go about their business as usual without being inconvenienced. Last week I used their cryochamber, which is a quick 3 minute treatment. FINDING THE RIGHT MEDITATION PRACTICE ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ There are many different types of meditation practices and ways to meditate. There are apps to meditate at home, youtube videos to listen to, the option to meditate in silent and tons of classes out there. I was once overwhelmed with the idea of meditating due to me feeling like I had zero grasp on it, until I went thought trying many different types. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ I started meditation a few years ago. I always hear people say it gets easier with practice, which I never actually understood how. I understand it now. From trying different types of meditation, and have learned “sound” meditation with tibeten bowls and/or gongs is my top pick. I also like general guided meditations, ones based on intention and meditations involving the breath. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ I attended a Breath Meditation at @mndflmeditation recently. MNDFL explains their Breath meditations as “Feeling stressed or anxious? This is a good class for you. Learn to focus on your breathing in order to become more present. Work with the breath in a way that allows you to be more calm and not get too lost in your own head. Spring is here which is the season of new beginnings! Here is some advice from the book, The Neijing, one of the most vital texts in #Daoism (or Taoism ) & considered one of the fundamental backbones of Chinese Medicine. It is written from the perspective of #HuangDi , known as #TheYellowEmperor who retired in the third millennium BCE. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Huang Di said, “The three months of the spring season bring about the revitalization of all things in nature. It is the time of birth. This is when heaven and earth are reborn. During this season it is advisable to retire early, arise early also, and go walking in order to absorb the fresh, invigorating energy. Finally tried out one of @matthewkenneycuisine ’s restaurants @plantfoodandwine in the East Village last night. He specializes in plant based cuisine and has restaurants all over the world including LA, NY, London, Costa Rica, Chicago, Phili, Providence & more. I had the Kelp Noodles Cacio e Pepe with Snap Pea, Pea Sprout & Dehydrated Olive. and The Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Apple Caraway Purée. They were both so delicious and well crafted. Definitely recommend this locally sourced restaurant. It’s great for a date night or a healthy, relaxed night out with friends. His has two other restaurants next door, @barverdenyc and @doublezeromk and packed on a Wednesday night.

Highly recommend @davidgoggins book “Can’t Hurt Me.” He came from a rough upbringing and has accomplished some seeminly impossible tasks. To name a few: 🔹He was 297lbs at his heaviest and lost 106lbs in 2 months to become a Navy Seal. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ 🔹He ran his first ultra 100 marathon (no rest ) with no training. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ 🔹He has ran miles upon miles on broken legs. One of Davids methods he uses for continued success he refers to as the "Cookie Jar" method. “Small victories are ones to savior. Look back at it to feel the win again and again. Utilize past success to fuel you to new and bigger ones. Because in the heat of battle, we need to draw inspiration to push through our own exhaustion, depression and misery. We need to spark a bunch of small fires to become the inferno. But digging into the cookie jar when things are going south takes focus & determination because at first the brain doesn’t want to go there. It wants to remind you that you are suffering, and that your goal is impossible. I attended a class yesterday evening at @kadampanyc The class started off with a 10 min conversation about meditation led by the instructor, Taz. Taz then led the class into a 25 min meditation- both guided with some moments of silence. The theme of the class was compassion- self compassion and compassion for others. ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ After meditating, the instructor read some parts of #GesheKelsangGyatso ’s book, Modern Buddhism. It is the distillation of Geshe Kelsang’s life’s work of bringing Kadampa Buddhism to the contemporary world in practical and modern way. Taz read through some of the book and then would reflect on the concepts to help us integrate methods of Buddhism into our lives, continuing with the theme of compassion. She spoke about having a headache and how in that moment how irritating a headache could be. When thinking about how many people in the world have headaches, the headache’s annoyance could then dissipate. ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀This reminded me of many concepts from one of my favorite books by @anipemachodron , “When Things Fall Apart.” Below are a few excerpts from the book that came to mind during class. ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀🔹”Unwise selfish people think only of themselves, and they result is confusion and pain. Wise selfish people know that the best thing they can do for themselves is to be there for others. As a result, they experience joy.”⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀🔹Tonglen is a practice to awaken our compassion. Whenever we encounter suffering in any form, the tonglen instruction is the breathe it in with the wish that everyone can be free of pain. Whenever we encounter happiness in any form, the instruction is to breathe it out, send it out, with the wish that everyone could feel joy. It is a practice that allows people to feel less burdened, a practice that shows us how to love without conditions. Taz gave us a short homework exercise to do before next week’s class- to breathe in the pain/stress of someone we knew, then as we breathe out, to send happiness and joy their way. The class was from 5:30-6:30 for only $10 🙌🏼. Definitely recommend!

Throwback to exactly one year ago today to my first private breathwork session at @pachamama_eco_community ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ I took part in a group breathwork session as well as my own private sessions at Pachamama. Before my first private 1.5 hour session, I spoke with Sati who teaches breathwork. This felt like a light therapy session. Together, we were able to narrow down on what I wanted to focus on during my breathwork session. For me, it was forgiveness. Between the two sessions, Sati sent me homework to complete, a “Forgiveness Letter” where I had to express a lot of my feeling and get it out on paper for who I wanted to forgive. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ In my breathwork, my fingers and the end of my arms were tingling and I felt an overall sense of lightness. I also felt like it was easier to be focused in the present moment. A lot of effort was put into my breath, so there wasn’t much room for my brain to think of something else. Chickpea curry with sweet potato from @bee organic , one of my favorite healthy spots on Long Island with Huntington & Great Neck Locations. Ayurvedic philosophy holds that eating warming foods in the fall and winter is vital in order to keep the body healthy and balanced. It suggests that the metabolism works harder to keep us warm in the winter, and therefore the “digestive fire” must be adequately fueled with heavier foods. This curry dish was so delicious and warming. A perfect winter dish.

Made these all natural holiday bath bombs. They turned out great and perfect gifts. Made these “sugar cookies” that are gluten free and refined sugar free. The original recipe was pretty bland so I added rum to it. It kind of tasted like a rum cake or biscuit and with icing on top tasted good with tea. Checked out Vegan Restaurant @beyondsushinyc , a healthy restaurant serving Sushi with NO FISH 🐠 & other healthy dishes like Soups, Rice Paper Wraps & Salads I had: 4 Piece Sushi Sampler. 1. Served with black race seaweed salad with chili flakes & sesame seeds, 2. Charred corn w/ harrisa and cilantro 3. Curried cauliflower w/ almond pesto, 4. Roasted tomato with tomato guajillo , Miso soup & Seaweed Salad. The Sushi Sampler with no fish was so delicious! ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ I will definitely come back to try more of their veggie based sushi. They have locations all over the city. Fun fact: The word “sushi” also means vinegared rice topped with other ingredients, so calling this a Sushi restaurant is definitely correct!
