Today is the day I officially say goodbye to the game I have played my whole life and gave my all to. I want to say thank you to everyone who made it possible for me to fulfill my lifelong dream of playing professional soccer. From my time at UCLA to my early years in Hannover, Germany, and my 9 years in the MLS; it was an amazing ride. Chivas USA, Portland Timbers, Sporting KC, New York Red Bulls, and Atlanta United, you all have a special place in my heart. Some of my fondest memories include representing the USA in the 2007 U-20 World Cup, my Bundesliga debut, my National Team Cap, sharing the field after my games with my 3 girls. Supporters Shield with NYRB in 2015, and ultimately winning the MLS Cup in 2018 with Atlanta United. Thanks to my parents for all the sacrifices. You taught me so much about what it would take to get where I wanted to go; I can’t say enough. And thank you to my wife who was there to support me through all the ups and downs. This chapter of my life is ending but I’m excited to write my next one! Thank You, Sal Zizzo @mls @hannover96 @timbersfc @sportingkc @newyorkredbulls @atlutd #thankful #grateful #mls #soccer
Last home game of the season with my 2 oldest girls. #atlutd
Exploring @swandolphin with this little lady. Glad we bought a double stroller when she refuses to go in it and wants to be carried like this everywhere.
