I have been having a long, arduous battle with a creative rut lately, but I am happy to say that I am bouncing back! All thanks to these here mudcracks. . You see.. An intimate shot like this takes true artistic vision, unlike wide angle shots and stuff. While it may seem to be as simple as finding a geometrically pleasing pattern, pointing a lens at it, and photoshopping the fuck out of it.. It just isn’t! These shots are what make the true artists stand out from the wannabes shooting icons with their peasant wide angle lenses. Even if you really enjoy icons and grand scenes, get over it you peasant! Patterns that look like 2012 era iPhone backgrounds are what all true artists are shooting! . You see.. I found myself here at Death Valley. I found true creative freedom by shooting literally the exact same things as everyone else. Mud cracks! Mesquite dunes! Zabriske Point! These locations allowed me to create derivative work that allowed me to join the endless circlejerk within the photography community. At Death Valley, I became an artist. The hive mind accepted me and absorbed me as one of their own. I’ll be on a few podcasts soon where I will further participate in mental masturbation over weird niche photography topics! Why? Because this journey also turned me into a true intellectual. . Keep an eye out for a video tutorial release that will teach you the exact same thing that Ryan Dyar taught 8 years ago. It will also go on sale for 90% off because fuck perceived value and past customers! The basic premise of the video will be “get good light like me and be at an incredible location”. Money well spent! . . This is all totally not sarcasm. . . #exploremore #acadianationalpark #ignewengland #seascape #mainetheway #mainelife #seascapes #goatworthy #igersmaine #landscape_capture #naturalnewengland #nationalparks #wearestillwild #maineisgorgeous #everytrailconnects #maine #exploremaine #mainething #naturalnewengland #createscenery #goparks #briskoutdoors #nationalparkgeek #lovemaine #visitmaine #freshairandfreedom #inthewoods #maine #campingcollective #scenesofnewengland @naturalnewengland @exploremaine

For the record, I liked the photo but would dislike your ridiculous commentary of possible

Glory be to the mudcracks!

TIP: Show some humility. Being a “true artist” is for others to decide. You took a pic of mud and edited it. Wow.

You are one of us now. Resistance is futile. Your uniqueness will be added to the collective and you will be given The Collective’s LR presets. The Collective has assimilated all the Utah National Parks, Iceland, and Death Valley.

I make sure to attack anyone I meet with a wide angle lens attached to their camera

I love the rant! This is definitely something I struggle with finding those little pockets of beauty within the grand landscape... Brilliant shot👌

I've been shooting some NH mud tiles, nothing nearly as curvaceous as this. This looks like chocolate, mine look like shit! Literally! Cow patties.

A legendary artistic oration. Bookmarked for later, thanks for conveying your vision. Reminded me the importance of capturing images.
