MERCHANT’S WHARF – TORONTO, CANADA // The bayside proposal seeks to redefine waterfront building typologies by investigating historic building geometries through interpretation and implementation of formal gestures for contemporary living. Toronto’s architecture has seen an increase in vertical living, yet fails to deliver a sense of community and provide legitimate access to vertical outdoor spaces. LILLI - ATLANTA, GA // The design also focuses on Lilli’s primary function as a living space. The practical distribution of required units is formulated differently from one floor to the other. In these steps the building perimeter is manipulated to make the most of the interior living qualities while maximizing the square footage. Design by @odanewyork

VERTICAL CAMPUS – BROOKLYN, NY // The high school is accessed through its own entrance, which leads to a bustling atrium connecting lower floors by non-linear stairways. Thirty classrooms, administrative rooms, a large dining hall, library, and labs provide conventional learning spaces, while a video room, art room, and multipurpose areas facilitate more progressive styles of education. VERTICAL CAMPUS – BROOKLYN,NY // Buildings are no longer have to be limited to the dichotomy of public and private spaces, but can also enjoy semi-public gaps full of possibilities. In the new school design, these voids treated as real spaces allow for a fresh set of faces resulting in a richer experience. The most notable features of the pre-k design are the four spheres of play, where experiential learning happens in an informal setting. Design by @odanewyork Rendering by @darcstudio_

VERTICAL CAMPUS – BROOKLYN, NY // As cities expand and populations grow, considerations such as limited ground space become all the more pressing. Stacked program is the logical solution, but that approach has its challenges: poor circulation, limited outdoor space, dead ends. At ODA, we explore new typologies and understand the complexities of vertical program, proposing dynamic solutions to meet these varied needs. For an addition to an existing girls ‘school in Crown Heights, our design is guided by the principle that the cube is the most compact shape. The stacked campus leverages the benefits of a dense footprint while addressing the shortfalls of vertical build: more outdoor space to connect inside and outside worlds, voids shaped and treated as real spaces, gaps taking advantage of orientations, in-between spaces controlled to prevent leftover areas, organized layout to maximize walkability. 251 1ST STREET - BROOKLYN, NY // While most buildings in this district are defined by a base, recess at mass base height, and dormers, 251 1st Street’s twisted geometrics highlight the corner’s transition from main avenue to residential side street. The design’s dissipating façade is positioned to appeal to 1st Street, personifying the forces that tug and pull at 4th Avenue. Design by @odanewyork Animation by @imagensubliminal

POSTKANTOOR – ROTTERDAM, NETHERLANDS // True to precedent, ODA conceived a dynamic mixed-use design, resolving to both preserve and adapt the Postkantoor’s original construction. The new 150-meter POST tower will rise towards the rear of the Postkantoor and straddle the existing open courtyard, on the new Rodezand wing. The vaulted plinth of the tower will greatly enhance the experience of the courtyard, coupling it with the Great Hall of the Postkantoor. #odanewyork #rotterdam #new #postkantoor #unboxing Design by @odanewyork Interiors by @odainteriors Developed by Omnam Group Architect of Record @braaksma_roos_architects Visual by @forbesmassiestudio
