Clear your mind, embrace your surroundings and enjoy the moment! A walk alongside Reynisfjara is an especially good place for just such an occasion 🙏 Did you know that the black sand comes from basaltic lava, broken down into grain by wind, water and ice? 📷: @erychist #inspiredbyiceland #icelandicpledge

One could drive any distance with a view like this! The road through Námaskarð in North Iceland is a geothermal area connected to the Krafla volcano system. The geothermal and volcanic activity in the area is both responsible for the vivid colours, stemming from the hot springs and fumaroles and the barren but beautiful landscape! If you decide to step out of the car at a stop for a hike, it’s important to show caution and follow the path, signs and instructions! 😊 📷: @_marcelsiebert @northiceland #inspiredbyiceland #icelandicpledge

Kerlingarfjöll area is a mountain cluster, that is of relatively young age which is to an extent responsible for their sharp and un-eroded lines and endless variety in colors! From Kerlingarfjöll peaks it is possible to see 3 of the Icelandic glaciers – quite a treat for the eye and soul after a long hike 😊 👞 🎒 #inspiredbyiceland 📸 by @daniel_weissenhorn

Grjótagjá is a small lava cave located close to lake Mývatn. From the outside it merely looks like another rift in the ground but the inside of the cave opens up to a beautiful geothermal hot spring in its depths. Grjótagjá used to be a popular bathing spot but geological activity caused the water’s temperature to become too hot to bathe in. Luckily it’s still possible to admire the cave! 😀 📷 by @alexdpaz At @northiceland

Highlands of Iceland. Landmannalaugar derives its name from a hot pool that rises from under the Laugahraun lava field. Structures of the area include considerable deposits of rhyolite, obsidian and rhyolite lava, making the Landmannalaugar landscape famous for its colourfulness and unique hiking adventures! 👣🥾 #inspiredbyiceland 📸 by @manuela_palmberger At @southiceland

Fox Friday🦊 - The arctic fox has been ruling Iceland's vast landscapes for as long as any of the humans here can remember or keep track of. The fox can be spotted mostly in the mountainous and coastal areas. Refur (fox in Icelandic 😊 ) is a shy animal and not often seen, so consider yourself lucky if you do encounter this mysterious animal while in Iceland! 🦊 #inspiredbyiceland 📷 @victorialesche

Kleifarvatn is a real stunner of a lake, presenting its new faces every season. In the southernmost part hot water from hot springs runs into it but elsewhere in the lake water is cold. Local story says that a monster in the shape of a worm and size of a medium sized whale lives in the lake. Who knows 😊 📸 by @visitreykjanes

The Arctic Henge (Heimskautsgerðið ) is found in Raufarhöfn, one of the most remote and northernmost villages in Iceland along the Arctic Coast Way. Amongst the purpose of this colossal sundial is to harness the Midnight Sun by the Arctic Circle. The inspiration for this mystical landmark is drawn from Norse Mythology, the Edda Poem Völuspá (Prohecy of the Seeress ). 📷: @schessyca #inspiredbyiceland #arcticcoastway #measuredbymoments @arcticcoastway
