I believe last night was the first time I could actually see the Milky Way in Slippery Rock! Still fought a lot of light pollution but I’m pretty happy 😃 A speeding college student added a nice touch as well. • If interested in purchasing a print of this or any others, feel free to DM or email me!
Back to our regularly scheduled programming! This gorgeous falls was found on the Gill Brook Trail coming down from Indian Head. I’m pretty comfortable saying the conditions for this shot ended up being perfect 😁 • If interested in purchasing a print of this or any others, feel free to DM or email me!
Her mother was a taylor, sewed her new blue jeans... • Taking a *quick* break from the ADK photos for this from last night’s shoot with @miss_m a.r.i.s.s! It’s been great to get to know her this summer as one of my coworkers and new friends. She makes a pretty good model too 😜
I’ll be posting a couple photos per day just to get the Adirondacks out of my system lol. I’ve been eyeing up Rainbow Falls for a couple years now and finally got the chance last week! What an incredible scene this is. 100 foot cliffs tower on either side of this chasm and the falls pours down, creating a misty oasis right next to Upper Ausable Lake! Such a cool spot! And the water was freezing 😁
I’ve always wondered what it took to have an amazing vacation. I think I now have an answer: Climb 7 mountains in the span of 5 days with two of your best friends. What an awesome time it was in the ADK’s! We started our journey of aspiring 46’ers with this sunrise summit on Marcy. The people indigenous to this area called the mountain Tahawus, also known as Cloud Splitter. I think I’ll stick to that.
If only the skies of Western PA looked like this :( I like to think of this photo as a dream of mine, where we’ll be able to see the night sky anywhere we go. Maybe it’s too lofty of a dream... Foreground: Harmony Road looking south toward Pittsburgh Sky: Milky Way over Chautauqua Lake, NY
Yesterday, I hosted my first ever bird photography workshop! It became a summer internship project of mine at the Macoskey Center at Slippery Rock University. After I gave a powerpoint lecture about a basic overview of bird photography, I took everyone out on our property to put our skills to use! Almost as soon as we stepped out the door, we were treated to this young(? ) yellow-billed cuckoo! It's the first I've ever photographed. Easily a highlight of my summer! We live in a beautiful world. Cook Forest State Park can really make that a reality. Standing on a huge boulder in the middle of the Clarion River watching the sun set amongst giant hemlocks and oaks was incredible and something I will have to do again! Wow it feels like a long time since I’ve been out to actually appreciate nature. I managed to get off work this week and spent a few nights camping with my mom! One of our destinations was Presque Isle SP, where I was able to get up for sunrise and walk the shores of the peninsula. I saw many sights, none better than this group of male tree swallows attempting to fit on this one tiny perch! If interested in purchasing a print of this or any others, feel free to DM or email me!
Only true OG’s will appreciate this shot 😉 This is the chapel of Mission Meadows, a summer camp I’ve attended and worked at the past 11 years of my life up until this summer. Words can’t describe how foundational this place has been for my faith, confidence, maturity, and self. I truly believe God has His hand over this place. This photo might help put some truth to that thought... Also, the green streaks are from a lightning bug! That is all.
The Three Rivers Art Festival was amazing. I think I’m now gonna start saving up to display my own booth in an event like that. After we were done walking around Friday, the setting sun illuminated the city. Ft Duquesne Bridge came to life! It’s pretty strange that we want to visit places far from us, but never think about the amazing things close to home. The Kinzua Bridge is about 25 minutes from my home and I’ve only visited a handful of times. Gonna have to make this a regular stop between college and home! Warblers are so beautiful because they come in so many different color combinations. However, the black-and-white warbler isn't beautiful for its color at all. Instead, they let their incredible zebra-like patterns do the talking! Their population has decreased by 33% in recent years, bringing their total population to about 20 million individuals. When two powers meet. I went out last night to attempt some astrophotography. When I stepped out the door, I saw some flashes in the distance and decided to grab my 85mm lens as well. I’m pretty happy I did! If interested in purchasing a print of this shot or others, DM or email me! : )
A beautiful little chestnut-sided warbler from yesterday! Their songs are frequently heard along forest edges, where perches are low enough to get some nice photos! The chestnut-sided warbler population, although numerous, has seen a decline by 44% in the last half-century, giving these adorable birds a total population of 19 million. I hope statistics like these will inspire people to preserve habitat for these gorgeous birds! If interested in purchasing a print of this shot or others, DM or email me! : )
