"I’ve grown up at EastLake Church but I never felt super connected. That all changed because of Growth Groups! Joining a small circle with people in my own stage and age and walking with them in my faith shaped me so much. The circle of the Growth Group changed church and made Jesus come alive for me." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sign up for a Growth Group this weekend at Group Central!

"See, your life and mine isn’t designed by God to be just time spent in some cosmic waiting room where we bide our time until we go home to be with Jesus. God designed you and God designed me to reveal His Kingdom to a world that needs to see hope and promise when it seems like we’re surrounded by hopelessness and pain. " - @kevinmcpeak
On this day 62 years ago, Elizabeth Eckford was one of nine students (“The Brave Nine” ) who walked through jeers, spitting, and death threats to attend her first day of school in Little Rock, Arkansas, following the Brown vs. Board of Education ruling in the Supreme Court. I bet Jesus felt deep sadness that day, but I bet he also felt an incredible sense of solidarity and pride. The sadness would have been obvious. Sad that his image bearers could hold onto such anger, such rage, and such ignorance toward each other. But also deep solidarity with a young girl who had to walk in front of people that hated her, that spit in her face, and some who wanted her dead. Jesus knew what that felt like, he literally knew what it was like to be young Elizabeth. He knew what it meant to walk through a crowd of hatred, anger, and disgust. He knew what it was like to be misunderstood and maligned. He knew what it meant to do the right thing: to walk the scary path, get past fear and push on walking towards freedom. Today we should remember two things: 1. How careful we have to be with our hearts; we must guard them from anger, prejudice, racism, fear, and ignorance. 2. Remember how noble, courageous, heroic and good the human heart can be and was intended to be. Let’s celebrate courage and the fight for equality for all. Let’s find people like the Elizabeth Eckford’s of the world and tell their stories, highlight their bravery, and then go and do likewise! Join us this weekend as we begin a four week conversation on some of the hot-button issues of our culture. We begin this weekend with a discussion on racism and how we can press back into society with a Christ-centered response. #isms #ismsweek1
Politics. Race. Religion. Gender Equality. YIKES! These are the topics your mom taught you to avoid talking about at dinner. And the ones that drive inflamed posts on your social media feed that it is so much safer to ignore. But instead of avoiding these hot button issues, we want not only to talk about them, but investigate how we shape our opinions and can dialog with wisdom, compassion and truth. Our series, "isms" looks at several of today's most pressing issues and helps us think through how we can press back with a Christ-like response.
